A large perry pear with astringent juice and a grainy texture. Translated 'Gelbmostler' means 'Golden Wine Pear'. This pear has a tendency to drop prematurely and has derived an alternative name of 'Tropfler', translating as 'Drip Pear'.
Gelbmostler has good scab resistance with a vigorous growth habit. Thought to be a triploid variety.

Thought to originate ifrom Lake Constance area in Switzerland. The number of Gelbmostler trees in Eastern Switzerland has dropped significantly due to fireblight.
