All about Coralstar peach trees
Coralstar is an attractive large yellow-fleshed mid-season peach, named for coral-red skin color. If well-thinned the peaches can be up to 3" across.
The peaches will stay on the tree, ripening over a period, which is ideal for the backyard grower.
Unusually, cut slices do not turn brown - useful for fruit salads and cookery.
How to grow
Coralstar is a high-chill variety and tends to bloom later in the spring, hopefully avoiding early frosts.
As with many peaches, if there is a heavy fruit set after the spring blossom it is important to thin the new fruitlets heavily.
Advice on fruit tree pollination.
History
Coralstar is one of the Fruit Acres Stellar Peach series of peaches, developed by Jim Friday of Coloma, MI, and latterly by Annette (his daughter) and Randy Bjorge.
