Reine des Pommes is a well-regarded traditional French cider variety, producing a high-quality bittersweet juice.

It is usually a regular cropper, and easy to grow.  It flowers in the middle of the apple blossom season, and in its native area the apples are harvested in November.

History

Reine des Pommes seems to have originated from the Ille et Vilaine department of Brittany in north west France, one of the main cider-growing areas.
