Prunus avium 'BlackPearl'
BlackPearl is an early-season black cherry, ripening about 8-10 days ahead of Bing. As the name suggests it has a dark red / black skin. The flesh is dark red.
It has a firm crunchy flesh. The fruit size is average or slightly above average.

BlackPearl grows with a vigorous upright habit, and has reasonable canker resistance. It is a very heavy cropper and often requires thinning of fruitlets.
It blooms early, which is sometimes considered a bad feature in cherry growing because it puts it at risk of frost damage to the blossom. On the other hand it helps it avoid the damage from late frosts.
BlackPearl was developed to be resistant to cracking, but in practice cracking can still be a problem in areas where summer rainfall is common.
