Malus domestica 'Sunrise'
Although the name might suggest Sunrise is an early-season apple, it is probably better considered a mid-season variety. It is more likely named after the striped / flushed red coloration reminscent of a fall sunrise.
The flesh tends towards the softer end of the spectrum, and has a pleasant sweet aromatic flavor for eating fresh.
Sunrise was developed at the famous Summerland Research Station.
