Morettini pear trees

Pyrus communis 'Morettini'

Beurré Precoce Morettini pears
  • Self-fertility: Not self-fertile
  • Pollination group: 2

Morettini is one of the best-flavored early-season pears for eating fresh, with a juicy sweet flesh. It is related to Bartlett and inherits that variety's productivity and sweet flavor.

Like many pears Morettini should be handled very gently, as it bruises easily (and bruised pears will not keep). The pears should be picked just before they are ripe and stored in a fridge, where they will keep for a few weeks. As soon as you see a hint of the skin color changing from green it is time to pick them, this will usually be in August.
