Arlet / Swiss Gourmet apple trees

Arlet / Swiss Gourmet is listed in the RHS Plants for Pollinators
  • Picking season: Mid
  • Self-fertility: Not self-fertile
  • Pollination group: 3

Arlet, also known as Swiss Gourmet, is an attractive mid-season apple. It is primarily an apple for eating fresh, but can be used for cooking as well. It has a mild flavor, essentially sweet but with some acidity.

Arlet is a cross between Golden Delicious and Idared, and visually seems closer to Idared, particularly its attractive red coloring. Like Golden Delicious it can have some russeting.

For a mid-season apple it keeps very well.

How to grow

Arlet is quite easy to grow, and as you might expect given its Golden Delicious parentage, is a reliable cropper. Thin the fruitlets in early June to prevent over-cropping.

Arlet is slightly susceptible to scab and mildew.
